Workflow

Translation

The following is an outline of the workflow once a work order has been accepted.

1. Work order accepted

2. Base translation (target language native speaker)*

3. Cross-check against source material by a Japanese coordinator
    (for mistranslations, missed parts, inconsistency)

4. Rewriting by a native speaker (edits for composition style and tone)*

5. Cross-check by a Japanese coordinator

6. Copywriting (target language native speaker)*

7. Final text check by a Japanese coordinator

* For each of these three steps (translation, rewriting, and copywriting), we commission different native speakers.

DTP

8. Layout by a DTP operator/designer

9. Proofreading and checking of the layout by a Japanese coordinator

10. Layout inadequacies and errors corrected

11. Cross-checking by a native proofreader

12. Data delivered to client

This is the end of pre-press production. GK Associates also provides printing services on request.

* The workflow may differ depending on the medium and timeframe required.
